Spolek Metznerbund vznikl v roce 1920 v Československu jako uskupení zdejších německých výtvarných umělců, aby prosazoval jejich umělecké, společenské a sociálně-ekonomické zájmy. Podobně jako jeho dva předchůdci, kterými byly Verein deutscher bildender Künstler in Böhmen a Deutschböhmischer Künstlerbund, jejichž historie je v předloženém svazku rovněž poprvé uceleně prezentována, byl koncipován národnostně, nikoli s důrazem na umělecké směřování. Na tomto základě spoluutvářel do roku 1945 identitu německy hovořících obyvatel Čech, Moravy a Slezska. 

Kniha nabízí odborné zpracování spolku Metznerbund. Vychází česko-německy, přináší velké množství reprodukcí a součástí je antologie dobových textů. 

The Metznerbund Association was established in Czechoslovakia in 1920 as the association of German visual artists to promote their artistic, social and socio-economic interests. Rather than following any specific art form, the association was based on nationality, in the style of its two predecessors – Verein deutscher bildender Künstler in Böhmen and Deutschböhmischer Künstlerbund – whose history is also documented in a comprehensive manner for the first time in the present book. As such, the association helped shape the identity of German speaking population in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia until 1945. 

The publication offers expert insight into the history and work of the Metznerbund Association. It has been published in a Czech-German version and contains a large number of reproductions and an anthology of texts of the period.
